WOW! What Adventures Oscar is Having!!!

Hi 1G,

At the moment I am in Skagway and I can send an email. I have been on the ship now for 5 days and I am having a great holiday. Our ship has 1258 passengers and over 500 crew.

I have my own room with a window so I get to see all the ice and snow as I sail along. I went on a helicopter up to the glaciers and I got to meet some Alaskan sled dogs who took me for a sled ride on the snow. I had to hold on tight because the dogs wanted to run so fast. I got to meet to one of the puppies. I think he liked me.

I also went on a train up to the mountains. It was so high I could not look out the window in case I fell out. The conductor looked after me and made sure I was safe.

Talk to you again in a few days.

Rocky Mountain Train

Hi 1G,
I have just been on the Rocky Mountain train for 2 days from Banff to Vancouver, stopping at Kamloops on the way. There were over 1000 people on the train and about 28 carriages but I have seen some trains with up to 125 carriages go past us.

Can you see the glass top dome in the photo? I was able to look up at the mountains and see the beautiful view. When it was time for breakfast and lunch I had to go down stairs into the dining room. The food was delicious and I sat right next to the window with Olivia to see out.

When we stayed at Kamloops, Olivia and I went to a dinner show and we got to meet a Mountie. Do you know what a Mountie is? Tomorrow I board our ship the M S Statendam for my 7 day Alaskan cruise and I may not be able to email until the end.

Oscar In Banff

Hi 1 G,

We got to have a sleep in today because we didn't have to go out until 11am.

We are staying in Banff and we went up Sulphur Mountain in a gondola.

It was very high and sometimes I got a little scared at how high we were.

The view from the top was spectacular. We could see the hotel we were staying in, the Bow River, and the town of Banff.

It made us short of breath like we had just had a long run, that was because we were up at 2301m above sea level.

We saw some long horn sheep walking in the snow.

The photo of the big castle is were we were staying. We sometimes get lost trying to find our room.

Well tomorrow we get on the train for a long trip to Kamloops so I had better go to bed.

BEARS, BEARS, BEARS!

Hi 1 G,

Well I have done lots of travelling today and seen lots of snow.

We all went onto a glacier, and guess who I met there?

There are lots of Aussies here and I have met Olivia, a koala from Springwood.

We made a snowman together and the bus driver is letting us sit together up the front with him so we can see lots more.

We spotted a Black Bear
and a Grizzly bear today.
They have been asleep all winter and were digging in the ground to find food.

I wonder what they were eating?

I have to tell all the Canadians that I am not a bear I am a koala.

We have also seen deer, elk, squirrels and chipmunks but I just sent you the photo of the bears.

Hello 1G,

I have been busy travelling.

The bus trip is long but very interesting.

Today I saw and played in snow for the first time at a place called Whistler.

I even made a snowman and had snowball fights with the other travellers.

Further on in our trip our bus was stopped by a cowgirl.

Some people thought it was a coach hold-up but she was very nice and was just moving her cattle. She even gave me a ride on her horse.

We are now at Sun Peaks Resort and one of the Black Bears has had two bear cubs. I hope we get to see them before we leave tomorrow.

The people here are really very friendly.

Talk to you soon,

OSCAR :)

Hi 1 G,

Today was a big day travelling from Vancouver to Victoria on Vancouver Island.

We went on one of the big ferries like the one in the photo.

They had three levels for all the buses, trucks and cars.

It was fun being on the ferry going past all the small islands and we saw otters in the water.

Talk to you soon.
